Yes, I am and makes me both sad and glad. Sad, of course, because I already know how much I will miss on a daily basis getting to witness the discovering the world that Carl and Chloe are doing so amazingly well....and hearing them ask "Ama help you?" When they really mean "Ama help me."
Some quick photo impressions of the last few days which have included an afternoon on the town with Maja--we went to the National Museum of Modern Art especially to see a South African, William Kentridge's exhibit "What We See and What We Know: Thinking About History While Walking, and Thus the Drawings Began to Move"--a somewhat startling and very interesting exhibit with lots of creative work he has done via the original motion picture camera of the '30's, charcoal and his fascination with the frames those cameras provided, one movement at a time. We enjoying it and were somewhat surprised at the leanness of the rest of the museum's works. From there we went to the heart of shopping, Omotesando to just enjoy being IN the city and its night lights. We then met Adam for dinner at a restaurant I had read about in an article in The Economist about the dying art of raising rice in Japan, Kokoromai--a delicious experience, as I have found most all dining here to be. The rice, clearly, was amazing and it looked like each grain had been individually polished.
And tonight, just staying home, enjoying Brenda's cooking, Carl and Chloe's work to help Mama fix their highchairs and wishing Adam a good trip back to headquarters in San Fran. So many impressions I hope to ponder and write about in the future. For tonight, I loved finding out more about Otafuku, a mythic fat cheeked woman figure with twinkling eyes whose essence of "goodwill and affirmation and delight is thought to bestow pleasure, success and well being and to grant wishes." Believe me, I'm taking her home with me--and maybe a couple of sets of chopsticks too :).
